Creamy Truffle Mash - Great Southern Truffles Style

This recipe uses two luxurious Great Southern Truffle options: truffle butter and truffle sauce, for a decadent and flavourful side dish. Choose your preference or try both for a truffle-infused taste sensation!

truffle mash potato

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 kg of potatos of your preference (peeled and cut into cubes)

  • 125g unsalted butter

  • 250ml milk (full cream for extra richness)

  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

  • Truffle Option 1:

  • 50g Great Southern Truffle Butter

  • Truffle Option 2:

  • 2-3 tablespoons Great Southern Truffle Sauce (adjust to desired truffle intensity)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Potatoes: Place the potatoes in a large pot and cover them with cold water. Add a generous pinch of salt and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are fork-tender. Drain well and return the potatoes to the pot.

  2. Mashing Magic: Using a potato masher or hand mixer, mash the potatoes until mostly smooth, leaving a few small chunks for texture.

  3. Butter Up: While the potatoes are hot, add the butter (and truffle butter if using) and mash until fully incorporated. This helps create a silky smooth texture.

  4. Creamy Dream: Gradually whisk in the warm milk until the desired consistency is reached. You can add more milk for a looser mash, or keep it thicker for a richer flavour.

  5. Cheese Please (Optional): If using Parmesan cheese, stir it in now and season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.

  6. Truffle Time!

  • Truffle Butter Option: Gently fold in the truffle butter, ensuring even distribution of the truffle flavour.

  • Truffle Sauce Option: Slowly add the truffle sauce, a tablespoon at a time, tasting after each addition to achieve your desired truffle intensity.

  1. Serve & Savour: Serve your creamy truffle mash immediately, garnished with a drizzle of truffle oil (optional).

quick tips
  • For extra truffle indulgence, use both truffle butter and truffle sauce! Just adjust the quantities to your taste preference.

  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop with a splash of milk to prevent drying.

  • Great Southern Truffles also offers truffle infused sea salt. Sprinkle some on top before serving for an extra flavour boost.
