Prawn Dim Sum with Truffle Oil


Ingredients:

  • Medium shrimp, cleaned and peeled

  • Dim sum dough (can be purchased pre-made or made at home)

  • Truffle Oil (Great Southern Truffles)

  • Minced garlic

  • Grated ginger

  • Chopped green onion

  • Light soy sauce

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Vegetable oil for frying (optional)


Filling:

  1. In a bowl, mix the shrimp with garlic, ginger, green onion, soy sauce, salt, pepper, and a few drops of truffle oil. Mix well to incorporate all ingredients.


Assembly:

  1. Roll out the dim sum dough into circles.

  2. Place a portion of the filling in the center of each circle.

  3. Close the dim sum, pressing the edges with a fork to seal.

  4. Steam the dim sum for about 8-10 minutes, or until the dough is translucent and the filling is cooked.

  5. If desired, after steaming, you can lightly brown the dim sum in a little vegetable oil.


Tips:

  • Truffle oil: Use truffle oil sparingly, as its flavor is intense. A few drops are enough to enhance the flavor of the dish.

  • Dough: Experiment with different types of dim sum dough, such as wonton wrappers, which provide a crispier texture.

  • Accompaniments: Serve the dim sum with a sweet and sour sauce or a soy sauce with grated ginger.

  • Vegetarian Dim Sum: Replace the shrimp with sautéed shiitake mushrooms with garlic and ginger.

  • Other flavors: Add other ingredients to the filling, such as grated Parmesan cheese, chopped spinach, or chopped nuts.


Extra tip: For a finishing touch, garnish the dim sum with lemon zest or chopped green onion.
